Refund & Cancellation Policy

We ask every supporter to read this page before making a contribution. Your money funds active projects on the ground — we take that responsibility seriously, and we want you to know exactly what to expect if you ever need to reverse a gift.

1 · Standard refund window

For one-time contributions made online, you may request a full refund within seven (7) calendar days of the payment date, provided the funds have not yet been transferred to a live project or vendor. Refunds are processed to the original payment instrument through Razorpay and typically reach your account within five to seven business days.

2 · Monthly recurring support (standing instructions)

Every monthly gift is a fresh transaction, and each charge is subject to its own seven-day refund window. You can pause or cancel your monthly support at any time from your donor portal — the link is sent inside every receipt email and WhatsApp. Cancellation is instant, stops all future charges, and does not require a phone call or written request.

Charges already deducted before your cancellation are treated as normal one-time gifts and follow the seven-day window above.

3 · Situations where a refund is not possible

The donation has already been transferred to a beneficiary, vendor, or programme partner (typically within seven days).
A section 80G receipt has been used to claim income-tax exemption; in that case the Income Tax Act's disallowance rules apply, and the refund cannot be reversed.
Contributions specifically marked toward relief or emergency response are treated as final gifts once disbursed.

4 · How to request a refund

Please write to us with your receipt number (format: AIMT-YYYYMMDD-XXXXXX) and the reason for the refund. Our accounts team acknowledges every request within two business days and completes the process within five to seven business days.

5 · Chargebacks & disputes

Before raising a chargeback with your bank, please reach out to our team first — it is almost always faster and cheaper for you. For accidental or duplicate charges we routinely process refunds without any friction.

6 · 80G tax receipt

AIMT is a public charitable trust registered under 12A and 80G. Every eligible one-time gift receives an 80G-ready PDF receipt on WhatsApp and email at the moment your payment is confirmed. If you refund a donation, the receipt is voided and must not be used to claim tax exemption.

Your trust is our infrastructure.

If anything about this policy feels unclear, tell us — we will fix the copy, not just the case. AIMT exists because Dalit and marginalised Indians deserve institutions that treat them like insiders. That standard applies to donors too.
